East Harlem and Beyond: The New York Proton Center in Our Community

As New York’s only proton therapy center, the New York Proton Center is committed to improving the health and well-being of the communities we serve—both within our East Harlem neighborhood and across the New York metropolitan region.

Our team actively participates in local health fairs, educational programs, and community events, providing cancer prevention information, raising awareness about proton therapy, and connecting individuals with valuable healthcare resources. By working together with local organizations, we strive to ensure more people have access to the information and care they need.

We also help develop the next generation of healthcare professionals through summer internship opportunities. In addition, our employee-led committees regularly organize volunteer initiatives, including neighborhood clean-up events, donation drives, fundraising walks, and other service projects that support local residents and nonprofit organizations.

The New York Proton Center anchors the 125th Street Development project, a broad-scale initiative that aims to bring residential, commercial and retail space—along with well-paying jobs and much-needed affordable housing—to the community. Our commitment to the community also includes taking an active role in the East Harlem 125th Street Business Improvement District, a public-private partnership focused on neighborhood revitalization and boosted by a $10 million downtown revitalization grant.

Whether through education, partnership, volunteerism, or patient care, the New York Proton Center is proud to be an active and engaged member of the communities we serve.
