NYPC Joins the Fight Against Prostate Cancer at ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk

September 17, 2026

On August 30, the New York Proton Center (NYPC) proudly joined hundreds of prostate cancer survivors, families, caregivers, advocates, and supporters in Central Park for the annual ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk.

As a sponsor of the event, NYPC was honored to stand alongside the prostate cancer community and help raise awareness and support for those affected by the disease that affects 1 in 8 men. A team of NYPC employees walked together to show their support for patients and their families and to help shine a light on the importance of prostate cancer awareness, research, and access to care.

Adding an especially meaningful connection to the event, award-winning documentary filmmaker and NYPC “graduate” Jon Alpert served as the event’s Master of Ceremonies. Jon brought his own personal experience and perspective to the day, helping inspire participants and celebrate the strength and resilience of the prostate cancer community.

For the NYPC team, the event was more than a walk—it was an opportunity to come together with the community we serve.

“Events like the ZERO Prostate Cancer Run/Walk remind us that behind every cancer diagnosis is a person, a family, and a community,” said NYPC team Co-Captain and Chief Radiation Therapist Andrew Okhuereigbe. “We are proud to support patients throughout their cancer journey and grateful to everyone who came together to raise awareness and hope.”

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among men in the United States, and its impact extends far beyond the individual receiving a diagnosis. Events like the ZERO Run/Walk help bring patients and families together while supporting education, advocacy, research, and efforts to improve outcomes for those affected by prostate cancer.

At NYPC, we are proud to be part of this community—and grateful to our employees, patients, families, and supporters who continue to make a difference.

Together, we walk for patients and families. And we walk toward a future without prostate cancer.
