The Gift of Hope: Introducing the NYPC Foundation

December 17, 2025

As the holiday season embraces us in warmth and generosity, it provides an opportunity to reflect on the profound impact of giving. At the New York Proton Center (NYPC), we see firsthand how acts of kindness transform lives, providing hope and healing to patients and their families, both during the holidays and year round.

That’s why we are excited to announce the launch of the NYPC Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to empowering patients during their cancer care journey. Its mission is to expand access to the lifesaving proton therapy, fuel cutting-edge research, and deliver comprehensive education programs that will define the future of cancer treatment.

At the New York Proton Center and the Foundation, we address the needs of the “whole patient.” Here’s how support from the community makes a difference:

  • Our “Forward Together” Program: Financial stress should never be a barrier to recovery. Forward Together eases the non-clinical burdens like lodging, transportation and meals during proton therapy treatment. Donations could cover a week’s lodging for a family traveling for proton therapy, a patient’s dinners, or round-trip transportation to NYPC for daily treatments, turning worry into peace of mind.
  • Groundbreaking Research: Our experts are at the forefront of innovations like FLASH proton therapy, which delivers an entire treatment course in under a second—potentially revolutionizing treatment outcomes with fewer side effects. Contributions to the Foundation accelerate these advancements, bringing hope to countless lives.
  • Extra Support for Our Youngest Patients: Our commitment to families is personal. This season, our employees launched their 6th Annual Pediatric Holiday Toy Drive. Employees will contribute specific toys to our Child Life program that will become holiday, birthday, and end-of-treatment gifts for toddlers through teens. This is part of our commitment to all of the families with children who come to NYPC for treatment.

Imagine a 10-year-old child ringing the bell at the end of treatment, clutching a new toy funded by donors. Or a couple spared the stress of travel costs, thanks to Forward Together. These are the real impacts of acts of kindness and generosity.
