Shaakir Hasan, DO

Dr. Shaakir Hasan is an attending radiation oncologist at New York Proton Center. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Montefiore Medical Center. Dr. Hasan subspecializes in proton therapy for genitourinary (GU) and prostate cancers, lymphomas, and pediatric malignancies.

Dr. Hasan has authored over 70 peer-reviewed publications in the oncology space and has presented his research at multiple international conferences. He is the principal investigator of three prostate-specific clinical trials currently enrolling at the New York Proton Center.

Leadership

Dr. Hasan is NYPC’s lead for prostate and genitourinary cancers. In addition, he Chairs the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO) Prostate Treatment Guidelines Committee and has also been appointed to the following national and international committees:

– Particle Therapy Cooperative Group (PTCOG) Genitourinary Subcommittee and lead for the reirradiation project

– Particle Therapy Cooperative Group (PTCOG) Pediatric Subcommittee

– Proton Collaborative Group (PCG) Genitourinary Committee

– Proton Collaborative Group (PCG) Lymphoma Committee

Dr. Hasan’s philosophy of care is to empower patients with the knowledge, confidence, and support required to confront their disease.
